We recently contacted the clinic to discuss our dog’s fear of fireworks. We had visited before for health checks and teeth cleaning, and those experiences went well. Unfortunately, this visit was extremely disappointing. Before the appointment, we sent an email explaining our dog’s situation and the steps we had already taken. When we arrived, one of the reception staff was unexpectedly rude and dismissive toward us, even though they were very friendly to another customer who came in afterward. When we finally met the vet, it was clear that they had not read our email. The vet told us that our options were to get a sedative (which isn't going to help our dog much) from them or go to another vet who might prescribe a different medication for behaviour issues. They repeatedly suggested we see a vet/behaviorist to identify our dog’s “triggers,” even though we had already explained that. After much repetition, the vet finally understood that our dog had a previous traumatic experience and that we have already worked with trainers and tried various methods. The entire appointment felt rushed and superficial. In the end, we paid 600 SEK for a 15 minute visit that could easily have been handled over email if our message had been read and taken seriously. They could have simply replied to let us know they couldn’t help. Instead, it honestly felt like they were more interested in charging for the appointment than helping our dog. We are very disappointed and will not be returning to this clinic. Added: We’re not quite sure why it would make any difference that we weren’t charged the full amount. If anyone had read the email carefully, which was very detailed, they could have simply replied to let us know that the matter was beyond their ability. We would have completely understood and booked a time with another vet instead. Also, the older reception staff member (not the younger ones, who were very kind) was quite rude. This staff member went to greet another client who had just arrived with their dog but didn’t interact with us at all. While that might not be a big issue for some, what was concerning was that this staff member tossed dog treats toward our dog twice as they walked by, without asking for permission first. And no other interaction. It’s very important to be cautious, especially when it comes to handling or feeding someone’s pet. You should always ask the owner first before giving a dog any treats. Hope this clarify why we were unsatisfied with the service.

The bad reviews about the front desk at Ahlberg Vet Clinic are well deserved. If you value clear communication and basic decency, I’d recommend ‘avoiding this place’. We had an appointment specifically for a deworming treatment during our stay in Stockholm. While checking in, we mentioned a small wound on our dog’s paw and asked if the vet could quickly take a look. The receptionist said it might be possible or not-possible due to limited time, but there was no clear answer on whether it would be done without ‘any mention of additional costs’. There was no explanation like “this may count as a consultation” or “an extra fee of xyz SEK might apply.” In the end, the vet briefly glanced at the paw, said we could use a cleaning solution, and that was it ‘EVEN NO BASIC CLEANING and treatment’ done. The entire visit at Ahlberg took around 5-6 minutes. At check-out, we were unexpectedly charged an extra 500 SEK under the label of a “consultation.” Since no cost was mentioned beforehand, they could have charged us 500 or more without us having any way to know. That level of -unpredictability and lack of transparency is unacceptable-. Avoid clinics that operate this way! They are charging without clear communication and without performing even basic care. This experience showed us that this clinic runs more like a business exploiting pet owners, rather than a place that prioritizes animal welfare or ethical service. I’m sure there are many great clinics in Stockholm run by professional, ethical teams. I strongly recommend choosing one of those instead.

We visited Ahlberg Veterinary Clinic in Stockholm to get the required echinococcus tablet for our dog to enter Finland. We were informed about the cost (450 SEK) beforehand and made the appointment accordingly. While at the clinic, we also wanted to show something concerning our dog’s paw during the tablet administration. Without any prior notice, we were charged an additional 500 SEK – totaling 950 SEK – for simply looking at the paw under a light and recommending a disinfectant (without even cleaning it). The “consultation” consisted of being told there’s a swelling and to monitor it. Frankly, this was something we could have said ourselves just by looking at our dog’s paw (no cause or further information was provided). We were not informed beforehand that this would be considered a separate service with extra cost. Total time spent with tablet + consultation was 6 mins. We fully respect the expertise and time of the veterinarians, but we strongly believe that clients should be informed about additional charges before services are provided. Had we been told a consultation was required and it would cost extra, we would have made a conscious decision. To make matters worse, the woman at the reception was extremely rude. When we politely expressed our concern and suggested that clients should be informed in advance about any chargeable services, her only response was a dismissive “okay.” This lack of professionalism and empathy left a very poor impression. To be clear, this is not about questioning the vets’ knowledge, it’s about ‘the clinic’s responsibility to ensure clients are aware of what they are paying for before services’ are provided. We sincerely hope the clinic reviews its policies regarding transparency and communication.

I don’t usually write negative reviews, but what happened today was beyond unacceptable. I walked into this clinic in a state of panic- my dog had just been attacked at the dog park, and I was visibly shaken and desperate for help. Instead of being met with urgency, or even the bare minimum of human decency, the woman at the front desk was immediately rude and dismissive. She rolled her eyes, sighed loudly, and acted as if my presence was an inconvenience. When I asked where I could go for help, she shrugged and turned us away- without a shred of empathy. This is someone working in animal care, yet she showed zero compassion, no professionalism, and absolutely no willingness to assist in an emergency. It wasn’t just rude, it was incredibly cruel. I’ve been here a handful of times with my dogs, and tolerated her venomous energy in the past because I liked the vet. But today made it clear: the front desk is the gatekeeper to any clinic, and if this level of hostility is tolerated at reception, it raises serious concerns about what’s happening behind closed doors. It makes you question how much true care and concern the rest of the staff actually have for the animals they’re supposed to serve. Until there’s a serious change in attitude-or personnel- I would never trust this clinic with my pet again. If you value compassion, urgency, or even basic human kindness, steer clear.

I had a very upsetting experience at Ahlbergs Veterinary Clinic. The staff was disrespectful and completely unprofessional in their communication. Not only was my pet misdiagnosed—causing unnecessary stress and incorrect treatment—but they also charged the full amount without taking any responsibility for their mistake. When I politely tried to question the situation and offer a chance to correct it, the person at the reception (a male-presenting individual possibly identifying differently) responded in a shockingly rude and demeaning way. I was honestly stunned that someone like that is allowed to represent a clinic and speak to clients that way. No one who treats people with such arrogance and hostility should be working with the public—let alone in a place meant to care for animals and their owners. To make matters worse, they completely misdiagnosed my pet.I do not recommend this place at all. There are several other places on södermalm that is way much better. Answer to your vomment "I find it deeply concerning that instead of addressing the actual issue raised, Ahlbergs Veterinary Clinic has chosen to publicly speculate about my identity and dismiss my experience altogether. What’s even more troubling is that you’ve brought up a supposed insurance matter that was never mentioned in my review. Not only is it completely irrelevant to the concerns I raised, but it also shows you have no idea what you’re talking about. My experience had nothing to do with insurance reimbursement—my dog isnt even insured?!? The core of my review was about a misdiagnosis, the lack of accountability, and a shockingly rude response when I tried to calmly question what had happened. Regarding the phrase “a male-presenting individual possibly identifying differently,” this was a respectful attempt to describe the person I interacted with, without making assumptions about their gender. Twisting that into something offensive is inappropriate and disingenuous. And finally, threatening to report my review because it doesn’t suit your image is not only unprofessional—it reinforces the very concerns I raised about how you treat people who question you. I have every right to share my experience, and I stand by every word. The way you’ve chosen to respond only confirms how poorly clients are treated!
